In a city cracking under heavy street crime, T'Rashawn Carter is transformed into a ten-foot-tall, half-humanoid named Brane with extraterrestrial powers. After his transformation, the once-unhoused, timid, small-boned man who'd always wanted to be big was renamed Brane and appointed leader of the Kofu Peacekeepers, whose mission is to protect Earth from cosmic threats bent on destroying it. 

After successfully completing his first mission, Brane and the Kofu Peacekeepers defeat a colossal alien enemy near a black hole in the Ursa Galaxy. Upon returning to Earth, Brane discovers that his estranged wife has been assaulted and carjacked at gunpoint on the streets of Oakland. 

 Now, Brane faces a dilemma: should he continue to uphold the Kofu Peacekeepers' mission and use his new alien powers to save Earth from cosmic dangers, or should he defend his family and neighborhood from local street gangs?
