Kente Comics Characters

Name: ZEMBAKU

Origin: Planet Dubhe

A LEGEND

Before names were carved into stone and stars were mapped into constellations, there was Zembaku. He walked through a black hole—a wanderer, a seeker, a being whose footsteps carried the weight of a super-humanoid in exile. Across lifeless moons, gas-lit skies, and fractured worlds, he walked until he settled on the planet Dubhe a planet in the Ursa Galaxy.

His journey spanned millennia. Worlds that seemed promising became barren or hostile or cursed. But Zembaku never faltered. His mind, a weapon of quiet power, spoke to thousands without words. His hands, capable of ending wars, taught peace, restraint, defense, and the disciplined awakening of the power within.

When at last he came upon planet Dubhe, a world of deep oceans and crystalline plains, the Humanoids of Dubhe greeted him without fear. Dubhe became home, a sanctuary— and Zembaku became more than leader. He became Patriarch.

On Dubhe, he honed his gifts. His telepathic reach united scattered clans. His energy blasts forged weapons and shields from the elements. Through flight and teleportation, he crossed continents to resolve conflicts before they could burn. In battle, his shapeshifting sowed confusion among enemies; in peace, his force fields sheltered cities from natural calamity. More than power, he gave purpose — teaching every child from Dubhe that strength was not a weapon, but a responsibility.

But peace, like stars, burns brightest before collapse.

The Great Dubhe War began as whispers and ended in screams. Armies descended, and Dubhe’s skies were split with fire. Zembaku led the charge, holding the front lines alone so that the youngest and weakest could flee. Even as his body fell, his mind held fast, reaching across every remaining humanoid, directing them toward safety, carrying them to the future he would never see.

Zembaku died not with regret, but with resolve. His last act shattered the enemy’s advance and carved a corridor of escape to the waiting ships bound for planet Xiratha. His people lived — scattered, grieving, but alive.

Now, across galaxies, his name is spoken as both warning and promise. To the enemies of the Xirathians, he is the ghost in their bloodline’s memory — the unstoppable warrior who could not be broken. To the Xirathians themselves, he is the root of their strength, the father of their kind, the reminder that even in death, sacrifice births tomorrow.

And though the stars he walked upon have turned to dust, the legend of Zembaku walks still — in every mind that dares to dream of survival, and in every heart that fights not for glory, but for pesace and the future.

QUEEN ABENA

QUEEN ABENA

Name: Queen Abena

Age: 30 (Lived 300 years ago in Northern Ghana).

Weight: 125lbs

Height: 5’7

Origin: Earth,

Powers: None. She is a human.

Queen Abena was the ancient matriarch of the half-humanoids on Earth three hundred years ago. She became a widow after her husband died in an attack by the mighty Ashanti Empire, making her the sole leader of a small Akan village in Northern Ghana. During the attack that killed her husband, Zembaku changed his form while saving her life and falling in love with her.

The Ashanti Empire wanted to move its northern territories to the south toward the Gold Coast. Zembaku knew moving the queen’s village south to Kumasi, would lead to a catastrophe. So he encouraged the queen not to go south but to take her people north across the Sahel Desert into the kingdom of  Mali in West Africa. After taking Zembaku’s advice, Queen Abena led her village up the Niger River north to Mali, where they thrived under the leadership of Mansa Musa, a devout Muslim who could read and write Arabic. He attempted to make Islam the faith of the nobility, but Queen Abena protested, so he kept to the imperial tradition of not forcing it on the public. However, he soon became interested in the scholarly city of Timbuktu, where he transformed Sankore from an informal school into an outstanding Islamic university that he peaceably annexed to the Mali Empire. As a result, Queen Abena and her people became highly educated and part of the Mali Empire.

Today, the queen’s descendants have migrated worldwide, unaware of their superpowers. Original comic book characters
